There Is No Nerd Like A Star Wars Nerd

Even Lord of the Rings geeks like me have to take a back seat to these guys.

Uh-huh. Lord of the Rings guys never dress up in cheesy costumes, right? ;-)

Btw, if you've never seen the Triumph the Insult Comic Dog interview bit at the Episode 2 movie lines, it is a masterpiece of merciless hilarity.

Yes, I've seen them. The Triumph the Insult Comic Dog interviews had me snorting diet coke all over my computer screen.

Oh, and LOTR fans actually don't dress up in cheesy costumes. We dress up in cool costumes.

Star Wars geeks are the lowest form of nerd, bar none.

What about those Hercules/Xena-the-Warrior-Princess geeks?

Okay, I may be with you now.

"Two hurt in mock light sabre duel"

A man, aged 20, and a girl of 17 are believed to have been filming a mock duel when they poured fuel into two glass tubes and lit it.

The pair were rushed to hospital after one of the devices exploded in woodland at Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

A third person present at the incident had been questioned, police said.

Videotape found

A videotape was found nearby by police called to the scene on Sunday.

A police spokeswoman said the pair were taken to West Herts Hospital before being transferred to the specialist burns unit at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, in Essex.

They are both said to be in a critical condition.

She said the 17-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead suffered serious injuries.

She added: "At this stage we are unable to confirm the exact circumstances, but glass tubes and traces of accelerant (flammable substance) were found at the scene."

I think Star Trek geeks are the worst form of geek. They go way more overboard than Star Wars nerd.

I watched an MTV thing about embarassing parents a while back. The dad was a Star Wars nut - his son wasn't but agreed to go with him to a SW con. Son starts out with contempt but later dresses up like a Storm Trooper. Son and dad cry and hug. Other SW nerd starts to cry and laments that he and his dad never had a relationship like that. I shift in my seat because I am uncomfortably with geek displays of emotion.

That's "uncomfortable". I can't figure out how that happened sine "e" and "y" aren't close to each other.

Good grief. Where is spell check on this thing!??!?

10. Bill - 05/24/2005 6:33 am CDT

Keep in mind that "sine" still would have passed a spell check :-)

It's all trig to me.

Read that web-site, though. Talk about your hard core fanboy...err...adult.

I like a comment I saw in a magazine once. It talked about the seriousness of true Tolkien nuts, then said "and if you think this sounds like Star Wars or Star Trek fanboy behavior, you're bringing a knife to a gunfight."

Most disturbing (read "I have to have one of those!") costume on that site is the Death Star. The description is funny too.

Well, I might be a nerd, and a Star Wars Geek, but I got my 20 minutes of fame on TV and it made me known around the planet in less then a year. I got hundreds of thousands of hits on my website, hundreds of fan emails, multiple requests for apperances (some even paid quite well), free stuff (Lightsabers, books, collectibles, etc). So all in all, it was worth the embarrasment for us, besides these days, being a geek is in!

Thanks for the note, I love seeing my name in print!
