"The first and most important thing to say about John Dominic Crossan's work is that it is bad history."

- D.A. Carson
". . . a question mark shaped like a cross"

From the advance copy of Jared's Unvarnished Jesus book:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life, and if you want to get to God, you have to go through me.”

Nothing else gets us to God, nobody else gets us to God. God in the flesh gets us, and in the flesh we get to see God.

This is the fundamental question he asks us, the question that ends with a question mark shaped like a cross: Will you be satisfied in Christ alone?

From the end of chapter 2: Jesus the Prophet
Now that's just good, good stuff. . .

Hey, I can use all the advance buzz I can get.

But you would pick a passage with a typo in it.
I've fixed it. :-)

Heh, thanks!

Oh, also, that's "type-o". Get it right.

Irreverent comment of the day:

"If you want to get to God, you have to go through me."

Am I the only one for whom that particular wording plants images of Ahnold?

I missed where the advanced copies were being sold.

Excellent quote . . .

"Will you be satisfied in Christ alone?"

How many of us don't even ask ourselves that question?

Recently, John Koessler of Moody Bible Institute read from his book on the air. He read about a pastors conference he attended in which a speaker talked about how the Lord had blessed him with suits, homes, cars, and other wealth. Koessler said everyone knew where this was going. The speaker would ask if he would have served the Lord without all of those blessings. Of course, the answer was a bully YES, and everyone was to be rallied to the cause anew. But when the speaker asked the anticipated question, he paused. Too long. "Would I have served the Lord without those blessings?" he asked. "I don't know. God help me." And he left the platform.

We sing He is all we want and every needed, but do we believe it?
