"Hope is one of the Theological virtues. This means that a continual looking forward to the eternal world is not (as some modern people think) a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do. It does not mean that we are to leave the present world as it is."

- C.S. Lewis
A Monkey with a Glock

I need some sort of code for loud uproarious laughter!
Oh man... oh monkey.... That is...just...funny!!

Reminds me of something I picked up in high school - don't know why or where...
"Never, ever, ever give a gun to ducks.";"0

Well, I knew that this was eventually going to happen. This particular topic is the very one that started my interaction with the Thinklings many months ago. Not unlike many other topics there are items that are negotiable and items that one simply can't compromise on.

Knowing full well that this action may result in my forever being banned by the Thinklings. Knowing full well that his action may result in my forever losing what have become good friends.

On this one fact I must make my stand.

These are not monkeys, these are apes.

"Category: pictures of monkeys"

hahahaha

4. Jared - 05/12/2005 6:29 am CDT

There's always someone who bypasses the humor to give us a science lesson. Thanks, Brian!

Sven, we actually had been posting pics of monkeys for quite a while before we realized it deserved its own category. Check out the category if you like. Plenty of mirth available in Pictures of Monkeys!

5. Bill - 05/12/2005 6:39 am CDT

Unfortunately, on some of the older ones the link to the pic appears to be broken.

6. Brian in Fresno - 05/12/2005 7:19 am CDT

Monkeys are vile, filthy little things.

7. Jared - 05/12/2005 7:21 am CDT

Yes, but they are at least supporters of the Constitutional right to pack heat.
Apparently.

8. Brian in Fresno - 05/12/2005 7:23 am CDT

He's probably aiming at the last person that called him a monkey.

To add to post #6, Apes are not.

9. jen - 05/12/2005 7:31 am CDT

10. Bradley - 05/12/2005 8:21 am CDT

That is just, well, i mean words aren't really necesarry. Tbat's dang funny!!!!!!

11. Brian in Fresno - 05/12/2005 8:28 am CDT

I would also like to add that I don't think monkeys have very good taste in sidearms and I'm sure they wouldn't choose a Glock.

12. SCPanther - 05/12/2005 9:34 am CDT

Monkay gonna lose a finger to that slide action, I'm thinkin'.

13. Brian in Fresno - 05/12/2005 9:44 am CDT

Yeah, that wouldn't be a good thing for the CHIMP. If it was a monkey that would be fine, they are vile and filthy.

14. Jared - 05/12/2005 10:13 am CDT

Brian, are you from the Planet of the Apes? Remember how they always got mad when Charlton Heston called them monkeys?
That was hilarious!

I love monkeys. Especially ones like the kind in this picture.

15. Brian in Fresno - 05/12/2005 10:54 am CDT

Isn't this a gun safety poster?

16. Jared - 05/12/2005 11:02 am CDT

What does it say, "Don't monkey around with guns"?
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha! Ha. Ha. Heh. (sigh) Hm.

Anyhoo . . .

Is his form bad or something?
You know my motto: If you've got opposable thumbs, get thee armed!

17. Brian in Fresno - 05/12/2005 11:21 am CDT

I'll live to regret this I'm sure but I'm betting I won't have to live long to regret this. Yeah, I was thinking, "Don't monkey around...". The form isn't that great.

Um, interesting motto.

Thanks a lot guys! I thought you were my friends. Just leave my last comment with it's shameful admission flapping in the breeze for all to see for a day or two.

I feel so ashamed and dirty!

Guns don't kill people, people kill people... but so could a monkey. That one looks pretty professional, it's had SAS training or something, I reckon it could clear the building, kicking open all the doors and covering his team in the traditional 1-4-1 formation. I always imagined a monkey with a gun held loosely in one hand, randomly firing while looking the other way, thoughtfully munching on a banana.

Now that's something you don't see every day.

Thanks for the oddness. ;)

22. De - 01/25/2006 6:26 am CST

We didn't mean to offend you, Kayla. In our defence, Jared just found this picture on the internet. He didn't actually pose the monkey.

23. Jared - 01/25/2006 8:00 am CST

Plus, he shot the photographer. So it all worked out in the end.

24. Ellen - 01/25/2006 8:03 am CST

!monkeys are not made for that!how would you feel if some one made you do that!

Ummm...I made my daughter do that (the boys think it makes her look "hot")
