"[Jesus] knew how to transform the tissues of the human body from sickness to health and from death to life. He knew how to suspend gravity, interrupt weather patterns, and eliminate unfruitful trees without saw or ax. He only needed a word. Surely he must be amused at what Nobel prizes are awarded for today."

Adios, Bill

That's Bill Gates, not our very own Bill Roberts. :gsmile:

After roughly 14 months with Apple Macintosh computers, I'm happy to say I'm officially a fanboy. I used to detest Macs -- but oh how the scales have fallen from my eyes.

Granted, for whatever reason, converting to OS X was a bit of a learning curve, but now that all that learning is getting behind me, I'm soaring with these machines. Love 'em.

In order to get my wife out of the Windoze world, we recently got her an older MacBook (the first iteration that looks like a MBP). I'm typing on it right now, actually. It came installed with Leopard, which was a bit sluggish ... but after an upgrade to Snow Leopard this thing is humming right along. I may go to Lion on this machine in 6 to 8 months. Who knows? It all really depends on how the computer starts reacting to browser updates.

So we're an Apple family now, for the most part (my kids still use our old Windoze machine). We've got 1 MacBook Pro, 1 MacBook, 1 iPad, and 1 iPhone. Assimilation feels good.

weird - opposite experience. Hate my remaining iPad and am very happy with new Windows 8. Touch everywhere!

Your story is very familiar.
I'd been a Windows fanatic since the 286 days, and poo-pooh'd Macs for all that time. Yes I knew how to use one, but thought them just so much fluff and unnecessarily expensive versions of the same thing Windows could do.
Then I used a MacBookPro for a year, and having been more a Linux/Unix fan than a Windows fan, recognized it as "home" and fell in love too.

Just wish I could afford Apple's prices.

Welcome to the walled garden... it's safer and tastier here! Just don't look back over the walls, as there is nothing to see there.... and don't try to leave, as there is nothing out there anymore... we will let you know when we need you...

I'm bi-computeral. I have just as much need for tech support on a Mac as I do on a PC. I can experience real depression every time I have to upgrade either. I-Tunes drives me bananas on my Mac. Why do I subject myself to all this angst? Because I love being able to spell and type. I still remember typing 23 words a minute with 23 mistakes on a typewriter. I love corresponding with all my cyber friends!

I'm a little confused.........have the Thinkling photo image controls been hacked???...or are we redefining porn now? (Or am I getting served up pre-prescribed images according to my click history:))?

Huh?

http://www.gilandre.net/pix/apple-logo-300x300.jpg

The URL for the pic I'm seeing in this post....intentional?

N(really)SFW - did you post that or have you been hacked? If you delete it, just let me know, I'm curious as to what the heck is going on.

Is anyone else seeing this?

8. Quaid - 07/17/2014 6:35 pm CDT

I think I'm seeing what NHE is seeing and it isn't . . . uhhhh . . . the norm for Thinklings.

Bird - you may need to reload to see what we're seeing. You may be bringing up a cached photo in your browser.

If you still aren't seeing something inappropriate, may I suggest taking down the image altogether?

9. NHE - 07/17/2014 6:40 pm CDT

Sorry, don't mean to overreact, I'm sure it's an innocent mistake.

I pulled up Thinklings innocently at work today and I had to "diminish screen" quickly - that's really NSFW (not safe for work)....(no one saw though, all good:))

10. Quaid - 07/17/2014 6:46 pm CDT

Perhaps, the lass is making a theocentric gesture, saying goodbye to her old way of life. She has repented and plans to change clothes, as she pursues her relationship with Christ.

11. NHE - 07/17/2014 6:49 pm CDT

LOL QUAID!!! - I appreciate your sense of humor about this.

Again, I'm sure there's a logical explanation, it's just that with all my back and forth w/ Bird debating the SI Swimsuit issue as porn/not porn, I'm beginning to think I was on a different side of the issue than I thought I was :)

FWIW - I love the pic and think it should stay....especially the Bird/Double Bird pun part of it....it's outstanding *cough in more ways than one...

12. Quaid - 07/17/2014 6:58 pm CDT

I think the link was initially good (given the file name) and then the Apple people unhappy with unauthorized logo swiping or someone else reassigned the file name to a new pic.

I didn't pick up on the Bird pun until you mentioned it, and I'm glad you did. If I had to guess, though, I bet the pic is down in about all of ten minutes.

13. NHE - 07/17/2014 6:59 pm CDT

...post script - still laughing at the line "theocentric gesture" - BEST.THINKLING.RESPONSE.EVER.

14. Quaid - 07/17/2014 7:01 pm CDT

haha.

She is pointing up to the heavens, after all.

This is funny on so many levels. The pic kind of works, given the content of the post. It's just so out of the realm of Thinklings. On the plus side, it may drive up traffic on the site. Just think how many new people will get to see the twice monthly posts here ;)

15. NHE - 07/17/2014 7:04 pm CDT

....fortunately for us guys, her teeth need a dentist enough to distract (ever so slightly) from the rest of the assets.

...and yes, I hope you guys see it as fun and not unfortunate...

My new blog URL (w/ past entries, hit my name on THIS comment) I'm the sports editor and we have over 160,000 unique visitors monthly...if you ever have a sports related post of any kind, please send it to me and I will post it!

She flips the bird 'like a girl' :)

17. NHE - 07/17/2014 10:33 pm CDT

True 'dat Tony! (wh/ is unfortunately kinda hot)

18. Bird - 07/17/2014 10:47 pm CDT

Deleted pic. Didn't see it but thanks for the heads up!

19. Bill - 07/17/2014 11:44 pm CDT

I think Quaid's theory makes sense. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the URL of the pic before Bird deleted it. I'll need to see if that picture occurs elsewhere in past posts if I can.

On the other hand, I don't see why it would benefit Apple to mess up free advertising (us posting their logo) with a disturbing picture.

I apologize (profusely) to our (three) readers. I hate that that picture was up, even for just a little while. It was not intentional, and certainly was outside of our blog's policy for images.

Only protection against this is to host your own images.

21. NHE - 07/18/2014 8:34 am CDT

Bill the URL is in comment 7.

No need to apologize, the picture fits perfectly with the post (as Quaid said) in a myriad of ways.

It was a good moment.

22. John - 07/23/2014 2:01 pm CDT

I'm still seeing it my RSS feed today. The image was cached by Feedly. Hot-linking is generally frowned upon unless it's offered by the host. Be glad you didn't get a goatse (you do NOT want to Google that).
