A fat lady's doctor tells her she needs to lose weight. So she sued him she filed a complaint with the state board of medicine.
Won't be long before folks are suing their pastors for preaching about sin.

Do you want to know what's really great about this? When it was reported yesterday on the "Today" Show, the segment was sponsored by Little Debbies. The irony (or hypocrisy, if you're a cynic like I) was sweeter than a honeybun.
Yeah, it's crazy. I read about this yesterday. What makes me mad about that is that if you're own doctor can't tell you things like that, than who can?
Speaking the truth in love, means doing it for the right reasons and in the right way.
Love without truth isn't real love.
Truth without love is harmful.
Some of my co-workers took me out for lunch for my birthday, and I over-stuffed myself. Almost needed a nap afterward.
Think I can get a couple of bucks in the civil courts for them attributing to my extra poundage and nearly causing me to lose my job because I almost slept through it?
I'm willing to settle.
I don't mean to get technical here, but from what I understand, she is not suing him. She has filed a complaint with the state board of medical examiners. There is a pretty huge difference.
Also, while I think even filing a complaint was probably overreacting, what he did was more than just tell her she needed to lose weight. He has a very blunt standard speech that he gives to overweight patients. She is not the first patient to be offended by it. For more details you can see this article:

which I found courtesy of volokh.com.
You're right; she's not suing. (Yet?) She filed a complaint (that could get him disciplined by the medical board) because he said, "You need to get on a program, join a group of like-minded people and peel off the weight that is going to kill you."
He also sent her an apology when he heard of the complaint.
More doctors could use a better bedside manner, but I don't think doctors deserve reprimands for not coddling obese patients whose lives are in danger.
I loved the title on this post. If there's an award for best blogheadline, this should be nominated.
Hey! Phil! I didn't think you even perused the site anymore. ;-)
Thanks for the 'pliment, man.
(I'm trying to pioneer apostrophizing words not normally 'postrophized.)
It really is a great title. Really, really good.
Apparently, Dawn Eden isn't the only one who can turn a phrase for good headlines. (She is very good though. I wish I had half of her talent.)
When it comes to health and fitness, doctors know much better than ordinary people. By the way I loved the quote of the moment on this blog.

Ridiculous, isn't it.
*sigh*
