"We are faced, then, with a frightening alternative. This man we are talking about either was (and is) just what He said or else a lunatic, or something worse. Now it seems to me obvious that He was neither a lunatic nor a fiend; and consequently, however strange or terrifying or unlikely it may seem, I have to accept the view that He was and is God. God has landed on this enemy-occupied world in human form."

Those are hilarious. Too many good ones to pick a favorite.

Ravens vs. Niners in the Super Bowl.

Now watch me go 0-2 on that pick. If I had to bet on the AFC game I'd bet on New England. But the Ravens are playing like a team of destiny and they almost beat NE last year so I'm hoping they can pull it off this time. I think SF is better than Atlanta but they're traveling across the country and the Falcons are good at home so I'm not real confident in that pick either.

hard to believe the harbaugh brothers are again one win away from facing each other in the superbowl.

that's an orange peanut!

I'll settle for 1-1 Karl......you picking against my Falcons (kick off 28 mins from now!) hurts, it hurts deep brah

Sorry, nhe. The Niners over the Falcons pick wasn't a pick of the heart but more one of the head (though I thought it would be close and was right on that score, too).

The Ravens over the Pats was more of a heart/gut pick that was as much wishful/hopeful thinking as anything analytical.

Sorry 'bout those Falcons. I watched Matt Ryan lead Boston College to a miraculous comeback win against an undefeated Virginia Tech team live and in person some years back. I thought he was going to pull off a similar drive in the fourth quarter today and he very nearly did.

Karl, yesterday was the first time I ever heard my 19 year old son swear (a well-timed "d").

We were emotional, it was pretty heartbreaking. I just hope our "window" isn't closing. With Tony G and some other guys retiring or moving on, we've got a lot of work to do, and we need to overhaul the defense.

6. Karl - 01/21/2013 8:42 am CST

I don't know the roster like you do nhe. Obviously Tony G was a big part of the puzzle this year and the threat he provided kind of put the offense over the top. But the receivers are young and among the best in the league, and Ryan is really just entering what should be the best years of his career. If they provide him with a good OL and competent tailback and TE play that offense should stay pretty dynamic for a good while, I would think. The D did seem to let them down at some key times but it feels to me like they are only a few pieces away, rather than being a terrible D that needs to be totally overhauled.

I don't see the window closing for the Falcons at all, but change happens so fast in the NFL and there are so many other teams that are just two or three players away or a couple good/bad breaks away from contending, that obviously you can't take it for granted that you'll make it back to the top and any time you come that close but fall short it has to really smart.

I have to admit, it gave me an inordinate amount of pleasure to watch New England lose. Shannon Sharpe was right - Belichick really does make it easy to root against the Patriots.

What a strange day of football! Apologies to both nhe and Jared, but the final result was exactly what I wanted (though didn't expect).

One problem the Patriots have is that everyone expects them to win. I heard the guy from PTI say that the Patriots are generally invincible. Really? They've been vincible every year since 2004. They are a Great team, but they have not won it all for awhile, so obviously they are beatable.

I also think the Ravens owe the Texans a debt of gratitude, for two reasons. Reason #1 - when we were good and the Ravens less so, we put a beat-down on them earlier in the season that was somewhat of a wake-up call. Reason #2 - when we were not good, at the end of the season and in the playoffs, we boosted the Patriots confidence because they looked like a machine of perfection against us.

My son said it well - the Ravens are one of the only teams that doesn't fear the Patriots. And it showed yesterday.

Bellicheck looked like the angel of death on the sidelines yesterday, btw.

Should be a good superbowl. I'll probably be rooting for the Ravens as they are AFC, and for the storybook ending for Ray Lewis, but we'll see.

Yeah Karl, we have the best WR duo in the league.......but in this age in the NFL, you need a big 3, so replacing TG will be a big focus.

Regarding our defense, when you watch the GB defense against SF last week, you realize we may not be in that bad of shape.

We had the right game plan against SF, with one exception - we couldn't defend the read option to the right side. The 49ers got 3 touchdowns on that play alone!

I'm just a little worried that the Falcons may need a few seasons to adjust to these new fangled offenses and may miss the playoffs the next few years while they're working in some new players in some key positions.......but I have hope!

Its an oldie but a goodie! Wearing this North Face Clearance feels just like you're eating comfort food. But really, I don't know seeing as I bought Discount North Face Jackets for my boyfriend and I don't actually wear it, he does, but he's crazy about it and has them in a couple colors. They're really nice though because when you wash it, it still seems like new, unlike some fleece. As for sizing, I'd say it's extremely true to size. http://www.cheapjacketsclearance.com
