"The first and most important thing to say about John Dominic Crossan's work is that it is bad history."

Because, as "Crash" Informed Us, Everyone is Racist

Because it's the last day of Black History Month and I'm preaching on the Good Samaritan and racial reconciliation tomorrow at Element, I figured this was in order.

Jared, since you posted it, I have to ask: What exactly are you teaching regarding racial "reconciliation"? That's a pretty specific word ya got in your hand there! :-)

The message is in a series called "Postcards from the Revolution: The Parables as Sabotage," so this particular message will be examining the Good Samaritan as a snapshot of the kingdom's countercultural take on race.

I stole this line from Thinkling Phil:
It's natural to divide; it's supernatural to unite.

This is my basic outline:

1. Psalm 46
2. Genesis 35:10-11 (refer to Gen. 17)
3. Galatians 3:26-29
4. Luke 10:25-37
5. Focus on the Creator of All
6. Colossians 3:9-12
7. Commune Without Distinction
8. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
9. Foreshadow Heaven
10. Revelation 7:9-12
11. Glorify Jesus
12. John 17:22-23

Don't know if that answers your question or not.

Yup, that was it :-) You said "reconciliation" and I had flashbacks of the "white men, turn to your other brothers and apologize for your father's racism" sort of Promise Keepers style *cough cough* reconciliation speeches.

Ahhh.
Yeah, no. :-)
