"People have fallen into a foolish habit of speaking of orthodoxy as something heavy, humdrum, and safe. There never was anything so perilous or so exciting as orthodoxy."

Because I Can

This is going to be the best Jesus book ever. Not only do I get to footnote scholarly discussions of the Gospels' similarity to ancient Graeco-Roman biography, I get to footnote stuff like this.

That's insane. "Hey, that's not an improvement."

The TROGDOR the BURNiNATOR reference just guaranteed at least one sale.

One more thing: Multiple purchases can be secured by including a reference to "Fhqwghads."

OK, since no one else asked I will...

Why do you reference this in your book? What's it got to do with...Jesus?

I'm dying of curiousity and I can't wait til the book comes out to find out. :)

Hahaha. You must ahve missed a previous post on this subject in which I mentioned the book including numerous sarcastic footnotes.

The passage in question includes a reference to Jesus (not) burninating the peasants, and that phrase has a footnote that is the url to the Strongbad cartoon about Trogdor.

Very edifying, no?

Actually, I did see that post. I was just wondering what this sarcastic foonote could possibly be about.

I can just see your editor trying to correct your spelling on "burninating". And you saying, "sigh, did you go look up the url?" :)
