"The abnegation of reason is not the evidence of faith, but the confession of despair."

Book-Moot

I attended Book-Moot last night with our newly published author Jared, Jared's bro Stroke, and the mythical Blo, to celebrate the release of Jared's new book Your Jesus is Too Safe. Moot went hard.

The only downer of the night was that Bird wasn't able to be there. We had great conversations, but I mentioned to Jared late in the night that we needed Bird's well-honed ability to inject his own unique brand of comedy into the middle of deep debate. We missed you Bird.

Your Jesus is Too Safe

Holding my copy (signed by the author!). This is a dream come true, something long hoped for and prayed for. Jared, may this be the first of many. I'm proud of you.

The Author, Grilling

Yes, he's a big-time author now, but he still puts his pants on two legs at a time and grills his own Moot-meat.

Jared and Blo

Blo temporarily manifested himself as a corporeal being and held forth on the merits of Jared's manifesto.

It was a great Moot - or should I say half-Moot, since we didn't go all night but only till about 1:00am - and it was topped off by an ancillary mini-Moot over IHOP pancakes for Blo and me. Jared couldn't attend that, as he had to rest up for the book signing at the Woodlands Lifeway today.

Heading to the book signing now!

Having picked up my copy a couple of weeks ago, I must say that I object to his use of cursing in track . . .

wait - wrong post.

Congrats Jared - Hope the Signing went well.

One minor correction. I jump into my pants two legs at the same time.
Get your facts straight.

Sorry I couldn't be there. Glad y'all had a good time. I'm glad Gary Kasparov showed up.

I wanted to hear the dissection of the cover image. Cool picture, BTW, but what is all that stuff?

I purchased a copy today. I was so shocked that they couldn't find the book at Lifeway. I wandered past it and found the cool book.

I didn't have such fortune. I went to Lifeway and searched and searched. The sales representative told me there were two available. But no book. So sad.

They couldn't find the six they had for me. The guy working said he didn't remember recieving it. I refused to give up and found it on sell. I can't remember what shelf they had it stashed on. So very sad. Keep looking Thirsty Bear

They may be missing it b/c it's in the "LifeWay Recommends" program for the month of July. So it may not be under the W's for Christian Living, but actually on one of the top shelves in the Christian Living section, cover out, on top of a little sign that says LifeWay Recommends.

Every LifeWay store should have the book b/c it's in this program. If they don't, they have temporarily sold out.

Found it in Katy. Yes, Katy. Jared...the places I'll go. I found it just randomly on the shelf with a ON SALE tag on it. Now, to break out a cold one and cigar in my favorite chair and take it all in.

I need to give a shoutout here and say that not only did Jared preach at my H-town church last Sunday, but I also got to hang out with him and a bunch of friends afterwards. Jared, you're a gentleman and a scholar, and hilarious to boot. Glad I got to meet you.

That is all. Carry on. :)

11. Jared - 07/15/2009 8:01 pm CDT

Glad you found it, bro!

It would go great with a nice Irish red or brown ale and a maduro stogie. ;-)

Manders, it was AWESOME finally meeting you in person too. You and Stephanie VW are the bee's knees.

13. Milly - 07/15/2009 11:52 pm CDT

It surprised me that they couldn't find it. The other Christian book store does a better job at knowing where to find stuff.

We'd love to see you in Tulsa.

Absolutely!
