Hi all!

Manual;

from bottom;

standard (that's how we quite literally roll in Europe, I think largely because we have such twisty old roads);

cable - and it's digital already;

ROLLS FROM THE FRONT, PEOPLE, or it'll get all dusty nastiness off the wall ew ew ew;

um... Willis?;

Wars;

just over, I'm slightly ashamed to say;

PC but next time probably Mac as they're sort of Computers For People Who Don't Like Computers, which is me;

contemporary, though there are few things more moving than the High Anglican communion service;

Please! Glasses! I'd rather poke myself in the eye twice a day than wear le... oh hang on;

DELETE - and d'you know what, Something Awful has never happened to me within five hours of deleting them - those curses must wear off after a while, eh?

Fun questions, Shrode.

Wow, what great responses everyone. Thank you!

This is fun. :)

I've actually learned a little along the way. :)

If anyone out there has waaay too much time on their hands, please compile the results. I'd love to see the percentages on this. You know. To see how "normal" I am. :gshrode:

On the Digital TV, I think some of you all are wrong. :) Even if you have cable or satellite, I think your TV has to be able to convert the signal to analog if you have an older analog set. Or maybe your cable/satellite box does that for you? does anyone know?

Boy, you just had to be different, didn't you. ;-)

In the kneecaps. then pistolwhip them. Then drown them in the chicken barrel.

Now Milly...
Your parents as action heroes? OK. I gave you that one. But right on the speed limit? Come on now. How do you stay right on it? Which side do you err on? come on, confess. You can do it. It's good for the soul.

Brian in Fresno said:

Toilet paper - doesn't much matter unless you have cats. If you have cats roll from the bottom so the don't roll the paper off the spool.

Awesomely insightful. I have this problem too. But we get in trouble either way. If it's from the back, they just shred it trying to make it spool down. So we have to choose: shredded by cat-claw toilet paper, or pick up a huge wad of unspooled off the floor.

dbd asked:
Does "contemporary or traditional" mean liturgical vs. non-liturgical, pop music vs. hymnals, powerpoint vs. no powerpoint...?

Man, I don't know. :) I think I was thinking pop music vs. hymnals as you put it. But I also knew that it was in the mind of the answerer. so whatever it means to you...is fine as long as you believe it sincerely. :gsmile:

(Hey this wasn't a theological survey.)

Debbie wrote:

Could you explain why? I'm curious. Have you started learning yet? How's it going?

When my Dad taught me to drive standard, I wasn't allowed to drive on my own until I passed the DAD test, which included coming to a stop on the steepest incline IN THE WORLD, and then go onto the highway from that incline with cars behind me, without stalling or rolling into the car behind me. That was fun. :)

Oh, that's awesome. That's me too. Very often, I check the veracity at snopes, then send a note back, chastening them to always check. Then I'll attach an old newspaper column I wrote comparing email forwards to gossip.

I just spoke to a lady who said she'd never send me a forward again.

Hey Shrode!
Well, if the visa comes through I'll be moving to England in August/Septmeber-ish. All my friends (except for one or two Americans, of course) drive standard, so I want to learn before I move 'cause I can't imagine not driving for over a year! I'll be in a small town, so everything is within walking distance, but still.

I actually haven't had a lesson in about four years! Some friends showed me in college on different occasions. I have the changing gears thing down. It's the clutch thing that gets me. But then I might wait until I'm in England to learn because then it will all be on the opposite side of the car and I might get very confused.

24. Nathan - 05/14/2008 6:48 am CDT

Debbie: cool! Where are you moving to? Small towns in England are da bomb: I mean, we all moan and pretend to be bored and hate them and everything, but really, it's the loveliest microcosm of humanity you'll ever see.

25. Debbie - 05/14/2008 9:21 am CDT

Hey Nathan! I'll be in Bedford doing volunteer work with the homeless. I was there right after college (that would be uni, for u) and have visited multiple times since. It will definitely be an adjustment from my big city life of traffic and long commutes to small town life of walking and seeing people I know everywhere. Not to mention going from teaching 5 year-olds to cleaning up after adults! But I like that London is a short (and cheap!) train ride away and I can go there anytime I want to get lost in the city!

26. Nathan - 05/14/2008 5:53 pm CDT

Ace!! Are you going with an organization or a church or such like? Also, if you've got a car you're not that far from Debs and PWF either and, to that end, Cambridge, which is The Most Beautiful City In Like The Whole World Ever, officially, because I said so. Yes I did live there.

To answer your question, Nathan, I'm going on my own to work w/ The King's Arms Project. They're part of New Frontiers.
And even though I won't have a car (heck, I'm praying at this point I'll have a roof over my head!), I suspect that Debs' house will become my second home!
Sadly, I've never been to Cambridge. Every time I go to Bedford I have every intention but I never have enough time. I'm just too darn popular! But I'm excited to go now that I know someone who lives there!
