I've always shied away from the practice, until recently. These days I keep a prayer journal and a general long-winded journal on my lapper, and I keep a small Moleskine type journal that I carry around with me to worship services, Bible studies, and places like that. I also keep the little Moleskine by my bed at night just in case I want to jot something down.
While I'm not a huge journal guy yet, I do see (for me at least) the benefit in writing down my thoughts, prayers, and observations for myself and for my posterity.
If C.S. Lewis did it, that's good enough for me.

I used to journal my quiet time Bible study and prayers. I've been thinking of going back to it. I just need to do it. My times with the Lord were richer for the journaling.
I totally journal. I have two journals - one for Bible studies and sermons etc and the other for personal observances throughout the day and happenings and anything else I feel like putting in there.
Bill, yeah I've thought the same thing about blog posts.
Lauren, I think two would be easier than my three. I'm thinking of combining my two digital journals into one. That'd be easier.
I'm a Moleskine addict, I have to confess.
I journal a lot--I have about eight years' worth of them sitting on my bookshelf. I find that it's a good way to hash things out, whether it's ideas I have or things I'm trying to work through mentally or emotionally.
I hear you, Manders. I recently discovered Moleskines -- they're awesome!
I think Moleskines are great too. I use them at work.
But I passed up buying another one after my latest filled up, choosing instead a cheaper notebook. Because, man, Moleskines are expensive!
Fashion ain't cheap, Billboy. Now pony up the cash and get yourself another Moleskine!
I wish we had one of those in Waco.
Half.com probably has them for cheap, too.
I have a black composition notebook I take to church to take notes on. That's about as far as I get paper-journaling. I generally keep notes at work in a moleskine.
And I consider some of the things I write on this blog to be journal entries of sorts.
