"The most important aspect of Christianity is not the work we do, but the relationship we maintain and the surrounding influence and qualities produced by that relationship. That is all God asks us to give our attention to, and it is the one thing that is continually under attack. "

- Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest
Get vs. Got

There's a famous (to U2 fans at least) line in U2's masterpiece, "One":

We get to carry each other
Carry each other

Bono & Co. feel frustrated when people hear the song and assume the lyrics are saying "We got to carry each other," rather than get, which, obviously, adds quite a difference to the meaning of the overall phrase.

Thinklings Junior Member and long-time commenter, Andrew Roberts, has a well-done review in The Baylor Lariat of a new book that encompasses so much more than Get vs. Got, though I'm sure the book touches on that subject as well. Check it out.

Good article--I like the bit at the end about the social justice aspect. (And am I the only one wondering if there's a story about that dark highway and "Grace"?)

Andrew, by the way, if you ever get to take a class from Dr. Garrett while you're at Baylor, do so. He is a cool, cool guy. I had a screenwriting class with him my junior year, and he taught me about stories in a such way that he will always hold a fond place in my memory.
