Amen and amen. Great post. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." It doesn't say "all preaching," is useful, it says "all scripture." -- I too have been working hard to get far away from the proof texting model while trying to build a strong sense of theme. At the end of the day, it really is much more peaceful to simply try to emphasize and communicate what the text is emphasizing and communicating.
