It seems incredible, but the Houston Rockets - so mediocre earlier in the year and after having lost Yao Ming for the rest of the season - have won 21 games straight. They just beat the Charlotte Bobcats 89 to 80.
Only one team in NBA history has won more games in a row: in 1972 the Lakers won 33 straight. No one's gotten close since.
This has been a historic run.
We play the Lakers on Sunday. Let's see if we can get to 22.

The Rockets "luck" continues as well as Gasol probably won't play for the Lakers, and West and Paul probably won't play for the Hornets all due to injuries. Of course no one can complain to the Rockets about injuries...

Most def. And if we lose Tracy, it is all over.
I heard Gasol was probably out. I still think the Lakers are going to come with both barrels blazing - they'll be in 2nd place if they lose.
This has been fun.
Yep, 22 down. It's a little weird that we're now #1 in the West and still just 5 games away from being out of the playoffs.
Yeah, the West is crazy-good.
The Rockets are for real. Great game today. Even more amazing because at least offensively) had an off night. But because this team has roll players and a bench that step up every night, we survived, and put a pretty decent whipping on the Lakers.
I'm looking forward to the Celtics game.
Oops, I meant to say Even more amazing because Tracy McGrady (at least offensively) had an off night.
Also, this win ties us with the Lakers for top seed in the Western division.
The next five games will be a killer - we're playing the Lakers, the Celtics, New Orleans, Golden State, and Phoenix. It's likely the streak will end somewhere in there. Are the Rockets for real? The next five games will tell. If we win a majority of them, I think it's safe to say we're a contender. If the opposite happens, well, we might be looking at a short-lived playoff run.
We'll see.
