Never Been Kissed?

In the comments thread of this post at Jen Speaks, Jen and her sister are going through the list of guys they've kissed before. It's quite amusing actually.
It got me thinking about my own kiss history (kisstory?). I have kissed a total of six girls (romantically speaking, anyway -- moms and other folks I'm not married to don't count). And I remember my first kiss. Actually I remember my first kisses pretty well:

In the second grade, I "married" Elizabeth Roberts on the playground at recess. When my friend Christopher, who was presiding as minister, announced, "You may kiss the bride," Elizabeth promptly took charge by kissing a leaf and then touching it to my cheek. (Actually kissing in the second grade? Yuck. Don't you know about cooties?)

I had a girlfriend in the fifth grade. I used to "smooch" her a lot, but I guess the hormones hadn't quite kicked in yet, because in light of the actual kissing I'd done since then, it seems pretty tame in retrospect.
My first "real" kiss came in the ninth grade, and all I remember is feeling faint. Pretty wild stuff. (Or maybe I was just dehydrated.)

Fun fact: I was my wife's first kiss. I think that's pretty awesome.

When was your first kiss? (You don't have to say who it was, if such a thing would be embarrassing or a violation of anyone's privacy.)
And if you've never been kissed, please share that too, so we can provide sympathy or derision as appropriate. I can think of one Thinkling right now who's never been kissed . . . Poor thing.

Kissing is great. I miss it.

I'm amused that the kisstory of me and my my sister brought you out to actually post something.

My first boyfriend was in the 6th grade, but we never kissed. He moved away and that was that. I'm sad that we never kissed, he was a very sweet boy. And ridiculously smart. *wistful sigh*

My first kiss was in the 7th grade - Rick Henderson was my "boyfriend" at the time. He walked me home from school and kissed me good-bye. It was a very nice, safe peck on the lips.

My first KISS was also in the 7th grade - he shall remain nameless. I was aware of this kind of kissing, but I didn't know what to do at first. For 13, he was a very good kisser.

The best kisser was in college. It was a one time thing - he was a playa, I was too smart to actually date him, but I was curious about his kissing skills 'cuz I'd heard he was talented. He lived up to the hype.

Anybody blushing yet? *looking at Bill*

I'll join in since it was our conversation that got this going. I won't count elementary school kissing, because to be honest, I don't rememeber doing too much of it since I was a tomboy who much preferred BEATING UP THE BOYS.

So, wallflower me didn't bloom until college because high school was a bust. I went out with a couple guys my freshman year but didn't like any of them enough to kiss them too. I came home from college for summer after my freshman year and began working in a Christian bookstore with a guy I had always had the hots for. We went out on a date and at the end of it he was my first kiss. He's an awesome guy and we actually are still in contact with each other today despite each being married and me having 1.5 kids.

This chick in kindergarten used to always kiss me. I never really kissed her back, but I did have a crush on her. I'll stop there. ;-)

I can think of one Thinkling right now who's never been kissed . . . Poor thing.

How's that possible, we're all married? Maybe you're thinking Blo, since he doesn't really exist.

4. Jared - 03/10/2004 8:03 am CST

How's that possible, we're all married?

I figured someone would ask that. It is an honorary Thinkling I have in mind.
But, yeah, if I was Dani, I wouldn't kiss a Blosquatch. All that fur might chafe.

5. Bird - 03/10/2004 8:10 am CST

It is an honorary Thinkling I have in mind.

Maybe we should all write Rob T.'s wife a nice little note saying she should quit holding out on the boy.

6. Blo - 03/10/2004 8:14 am CST

But, yeah, if I was Dani, I wouldn't kiss a Blosquatch. All that fur might chafe.

If you were Dani I wouldn't want you kissin' ME either.

7. Jared - 03/10/2004 8:19 am CST

Hardy har har.

All I have to say is: Go Darlok!

8. Rob T. - 03/10/2004 8:24 am CST

Dude, you don't even want to hear how many girls i've kissed (before the wife, of course). And I have at least one kiss with Mrs. T. on video. you may kiss the bride...

9. Jared - 03/10/2004 8:31 am CST

Actually, I would be interested in hearing how many girls you've kissed. Were you a man-slut before Mrs. T. tamed you?

The question at hand, though, was When was your first kiss?

Stay on topic, people!

Oh, yeah -- Go Darlok!

10. Bird - 03/10/2004 9:06 am CST

Down with Blo!

11. Rob T. - 03/10/2004 9:09 am CST

When: sophomore year in high school. Psycho Shannon, with her best friend watching, egging us on.

How many: less than Jaynee...

12. Quaid - 03/10/2004 9:29 am CST

My First kiss:

Freshman year of college, during Thanksgiving Break, November 27, 12:15 am.

I was in the Champion Forest area at a friends house with a group of people . . . The girl I liked was there too, we went outside to "talk" and whamo.

13. Quaid - 03/10/2004 9:30 am CST

Clarification:

Just in case we have students from my church stop by, "whamo" should be read as nothing more and nothing less than your run-of-the-mill first kiss.

14. Quaid - 03/10/2004 9:31 am CST

One last thing . . .

I am pretty sure I know who Rod is talking about. I am not sure I would say that the individual is poor because of it . . .

You've held out this long, keep it going until you find the right one. GO GO GO

15. Vick - 03/10/2004 9:38 am CST

My first "real" kiss was at church camp believe it or not...I think it was the summer between 7th and 8th grade...

16. jen - 03/10/2004 9:51 am CST

OK, someone please say you had your first REAL kiss as young as I did or younger.

Now I am blushing...sheesh.

17. denis - 03/10/2004 10:46 am CST

Jen, you were advanced for your age. And you quit earlier too. This kissing talk is just a disguised sign that you want to be married. I know that.

18. Shadi - 03/10/2004 11:35 am CST

Your looking at a rare species right here. The rarest of teenage breeds: an eighteen year old lip-virgin, as i call myself. Yes sir, pretty rare... gee, i hope im not one of a kind... am I? i mean, I dont get into these high school "relationships" if you wanna call them that, because there really is no point. i cant say that i have "loved" someone enough, or even liked them enough to go out on a "date" with them (or at least have them reciprocate that same feeling) :) God knows what he is doing, and there isnt much more i can do but turn on the charm and let Him do his handywork, i just hope my first kiss isnt after the words i do heh

19. Manders - 03/10/2004 1:25 pm CST

Nineteen years old and never been kissed. And no, I am not of the Joshua Harris camp; I'm sitting here waiting for dating to give me a long, slow kiss in greeting. :p ;)

20. stroke - 03/10/2004 4:30 pm CST

rare breed, huh? so what am i? 25 years and waiting....

i'm the honorary thinkling some have referred to. for most of my life it wasn't a choice! but now that i've made it this far... i think i'll ride the streak. i'm big on streaks (quaid knows this).

because of this streak, i have developed a pretty strong (prude, if you will) stance on kissing. anywho, point your fingers and laugh if you choose... but my first kiss will be the most amazing ever!

21. Shadi - 03/10/2004 5:23 pm CST

stroke, dont be discouraged at all, you are 100 percent correct, the first one will be amazing. Its just hard to take a stance and not be ridiculed in high school... when thats all you see in the halls. I have a feeling it will only get easier, correct me if im wrong. Id like to say it was by choice, but yeah, not so much.

22. Bird - 03/10/2004 5:38 pm CST

but my first kiss will be the most amazing ever!

Good for you, Stroke. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait (as I'm sure it was worth Becky's wait to put a big old smack on Rod, though I'd never want to do it ;-).

23. stroke - 03/10/2004 6:16 pm CST

hey shadi,

just fyi, this is jeremy from church. "rod" is my brother. forgot to let you know, i forget no one knows my "thinkling name" at church.

24. Daniel - 03/11/2004 2:30 am CST

First one: On the bus in eighth grade ( not that any of you have any clue as to who this is but April Nance was her name)
First 'REAL' kiss: With my now-wife a few weeks after we started dating. I was 20 then.

25. Becky - 03/11/2004 3:41 am CST

Shadi, Manders, and Stroke--

All I can say is TRUST ME! The right one is worth waiting for! And when you don't have any "baggage" (others who might have been "better kissers" or stuff like that), your one true relationship can be completely safe and uninhibited, which makes kissing SO MUCH FUN! I "smooched" a few guys along the way, but certainly nothing special or "real." Jared was my first REAL kiss, and in my mind, he's the best kisser in the world. It's great to be married to the best kisser in the world, and all 3 of you will be (in your mind, at least) if you wait for the right person.

26. Becky - 03/11/2004 7:14 am CST

It occurs to me that maybe I used some misleading terminology in my last comment that may sound like a contradiction to Jared's comment that he was my first kiss. These "smooches" I referenced were nothing more than a kiss like I'd kiss my Dad or my sister when I haven't seen them in a long time. And even then there were only 2 or 3. So if the word "smooch" conjures up any image other than that, I apologize. Jared was definitely my first kiss that lasted longer than a microsecond. Just wanted to clarify.

27. Rhesa - 03/11/2004 7:40 am CST

Never been kissed. Seriously.

28. Debs - 03/11/2004 9:51 am CST

Ditto.

Hmmm....interesting how all us never-been-kissers are coming out of the woodwork...

29. Bird - 03/11/2004 10:33 am CST

Boo, what about Danny Aranda?

30. Debs - 03/11/2004 11:21 am CST

31. Linda - 12/30/2004 7:21 am CST
