"And do you now begin to see why Christianity has always said that the devil is a fallen angel? That is not a mere story for the children. It is a real recognition of the fact that evil is a parasite, not an original thing. The powers which enable evil to carry on are powers given it by goodness."

Non-aging or Time-travel?

Random Lost question but it's bugging me so I thought I'd ask.

Is Richard truly immortal/non-aging? Or does he just bounce around in time?

No?

I've been thinking about that myself lately. I've come up with another theory that some people associated with the island are actually dead, and have an ability to contact the "living" people associated with the island and to jump around in time.

Under that theory, Richard might be dead or, theory aside, a time traveller.

At the end of Season 3 Ben told Jack that if the boat people make contact with them then, "Every living person on this island will die." I always thought it odd that he said "living person."

I now think Claire is dead, that she died in that explosion. That's why she's chilling with her dead dad. And that's why the baby needed to stay with the Hugo and Co.

Interesting theory about Claire. . . I think you might be right.
Didn't the writers/producers at one point say everything would have a "scientific" explanation which would rule out them being immortal? This wouldn't necessarily rule out them being able to contact the living from another dimension however.

I don't think that I buy a dead Claire appearing to everyone during the attack, carrying around her baby and getting up to leave in the middle of the night.

Maybe she died of internal wounds later on or something, but I don't believe that she died in the explosion.

Walt appeared to Locke to tell him to get out of the pit and he's not dead (as far as we know). It's possible that the Claire Locke saw in the cabin was just an apparition similar to the Walt that he saw. As to where that leaves Claire, I'm not sure.

I just don't believe she's dead (unless everyone is dead, or something stupid like that).

That's not stupid!

Bring back Limbo Theory!

They are in purgatory, I tell ye!

Arrrr!

Wait. Why are we talking like pirates?

Funny story: We went to the park yesterday and Grace ran to pick up pine cones and she goes, "Shiver me timbers!"

I said, "Why'd you say that?"

And she said, "Because I'm picking up pine cones," as if nothing could be more natural when collecting pine cones than to break out into pirate-speak.

The logic of kids is awesome.

I think Claire is dead. I expected to see Christian in the cabin for some reason - I think because we got a glimpse of him in there last season.

Wouldn't it be funny if they stuck with the purgatory idea after all?

If she died, then I think it happened between the time Christian lured her away from the group and when Locke sees her in the cabin - not in the explosion.

Sorry for the double post - I was getting this weird window that wanted me to save the PHP file. And I never saw the comments show up.

Claire's death - I agree. My thought was that she died in her sleep and that's when Christian came to her at the camp fire.

BTW, someone told me they saw an interview with the writer/producers and they said the question isn't if Claire's dead, it's where is Claire.
Don't know what that means, but there ya go.

14. Bill - 05/11/2008 8:22 pm CDT

It seems to me that if Claire had died in her sleep they would have found her body.

I think she's still alive. Doomed, but alive.

15. Quaid - 05/12/2008 8:33 am CDT

Doomed in what sense? Doomed individually or with all of the other non-Oceanic sixers?

16. Bill - 05/12/2008 12:19 pm CDT

Individually. I've long held a theory that Claire is going to die. I could be wrong.

I'm, frankly, baffled by her behavior recently. Leaving Aaron was the last straw.

17. Bird - 05/12/2008 6:05 pm CDT

Bill, if you were dead you'd leave Aaron, too. :-)

All I know is the last episode is almost assured to end with a montage featuring some cool version of Hotel California, preferably the Los Lobos version ...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said "we are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax", said the night man,
"We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!"
