- Rick Warren
The pornography industry has a big stake in defending itself against legal challenges and restrictive laws, and it has been stunningly successful in doing so. One of the leading legal defenders of pornography has been David Ogden, a lawyer who can only be described as a First Amendment extremist, who has even argued against laws against child pornography.
President Barack Obama has nominated David Ogden as Deputy Attorney General of the United States. This nomination is both ominous and dangerous. Given David Ogden's high visibility in defense of pornography, this nomination sends a clear and unmistakable message. The pornography business will have a friend in high office in the Department of Justice.

Sadly, that probably just means he'll get to work even more for the industry.
I did have have some respect for Obama as a person. He seemed like a nice guy. Nice guys would never nominate someone that supports the exploitation of children.
I really just can't see how any Christians can still defend their vote for him. I can understand they might have gotten caught up in making history or whatever at the time.... but now? To still defend that vote as the right choice? Oh, we are a proud and unbroken people....
Forgive me if this should be whispered, not commented, but I wonder if studies have been done on pornography's effects on black women or black families--maybe more broadly minority families. If it can be credibly argued that pornography destroys not just women, but black women, black families, minority communities at large, then that contrasting this liberal choice with that reality could make a very interesting firestorm. Maybe it would open the eyes of many who doggedly vote for Democrats despite sharing little of their social values.
Raindream - there is a slight perception that pornography is a white man's problem. Not everyone shares that perception, but it is out there. We know a couple that is black, and the husband recently confessed to cheating on his wife repeatedly. Started with some magazines, went all the way to prostitution and other behaviors that will probably get this comment filtered no matter how I try to describe them. So, yes - an equal opportunity devastator...
After Obama's own chldren's pictures were posted on the website of a child molestor a few years ago, it is simply inconceivable how he could have made this move. What father wouldn't want to rip from limb to limb anyone who would do such of a thing! But we are not free to take matters into our own hands. As president, he actually was in a position to do something about child porn. Given how his own children's lives have been so directly touched by this, I find his actions even more disturbing. He disgusts me.
First, if someone's record indicates that they are not on the side of the majority of Americans on this very high profile issue, it does beg the question: Which way are they leaning on other issues, both great and small?
Second, the health of someone's business enterprise shouldn't be protected if it's not "right." However, the western world seems quite prepared, for example, to permit and sometimes even subsidize the tobacco industry, while at the same time spending millions to encourage people to quit smoking. What nonsense! It's either "right" or it's "wrong," but of course those terms aren't PC anymore.
This site gives the story of how Obama's daughters' pictures were posted on the website of a known pedophile.
How Obama could have appointed a man who sides with perverts is simply unfathomable to me.

Uhhhh . . . scary much?
The only positive to this - and there isn't much of one - is that if this dude is working for the Justice department, he isn't working for the industry. At least, not technically.
