Grace (4) has lately really gotten into the old Max Fleischer Superman cartoons. I'm talking the old ones from the 40's and such.
We're watching one right now and here's a sampling of the conversation it has prompted:
Grace: It's kinda good they have a hero, huh?
Me: Why is that?
Grace: Well, because then they won't get hurt. Don't you wish we had a hero?
Me: Aren't I a hero?
Grace: (laughs) No.
Me: Don't I help you when you're hurt?
Grace: Well, you don't do anything super.

I really love it when you post these.
Now if only my dad would post reasons why I rock...
My daddy is my hero. Cause he helps me when I hurt and he does super stuff. Some day she’ll see you the way I see my daddy, as a big old hero.
She's too cute
Here's another funny kids conversational moment.
Driving home from ice cream at Maggie Moo's I was indoctrinating the kids into U2 with their greatest hits album (1980-1990).
Me: This is the greatest rock and roll band of all time.*
Macy (6): No it's not!
Me: Yes it is.
Macy: That's just an opinion.
Me: Well, okay. But if they're not, who is?
Macy: Well, it's not a band but I think Hannah Montana.
Me: What?! That's ridiculous.
Macy: Well, me, and Peyton, and Grace think she's the best.
Me: Hanna Montana is dirt.
Macy: DADDY!
(Later, about five songs into the CD, during "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" . . .)
Grace (4): This is a good song, huh, Mace?
Macy: Not as good as Hannah Montana.
Grace: (unintelligible sound of obvious exasperation)
* Bill, yes, I know that statement violates my own defense of The Beatles for that title in that post of Bird's. I was caught up in the moment. :-)
Macy is an exceptional and intelligent young lady with superb taste.
Personally, mine for U2 over the Beatles. I'll admit, though, there's something to be said for that time the Beatles performed with David Lee Roth . . .
She's hilarious.
