I remember this differently, funny how you change things so that you can handle them. I guess my fear must have made her look like the good nanny. Come to think of it I do fear those English nannies. Could be why I insisted on being a stay at home mom for awhile. That and the money.

I was genuinely scared of Mary Poppins as a small child. Had I seen that take on it, I would NEVER have watched it.
The books are good. I've read a couple, I think. They are a little more dark and mysterious than the film. There's a moving gingerbread shop (you never know where you're going to find it) that stuck in my head for years.
