"Membership in the family of God is neither inconsequential or something to be casually ignored. The church is God's agenda for the world. Jesus said, "I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it." The church is indestructable and will exist for eternity. It will outlive this universe, and so will your role in it."

So, Did You Stand in Line for Hours To Get Your iPhone 4S?

. . . I don't understand these iPhone frenzies.

No. But I waited for hours trying to upgrade my iPhone to iOS5. After never-ending error loops, I ended up having to manually rep-sync all the files on the phone.

This is the least satisfied I've been with Apple. (Which isn't saying much, since I've been quite satisfied with them). I've spent (and am spending via contract) much on this device - probably should work better.

My upgrade was a breeze!

Is this just idol worship or delighting ourselves in the Lord? Maybe it's just my personality. I have too much pride to let anything on this earth--including things and or people-- make me stand in line for more than a few minutes! Could be impatience. I'll just keep my old I Phone--it works fine.

Oh...I don't have a 4S - I'm very happy with the one I have.

The iPhone has made my life a lot easier to manage - everything is in one place.

Great picture :)

I'm with Bobbi in that I won't stand in line for any product. I don't tolerate the black Friday nonsense either.

My iPhone 4, not 4S (iPhone 5 wannabe), works just fine. I don't understand why anyone would want to spend another $200+ (I'm not sure of the new plan price) for a phone that doesn't give you many new features. Let's see I can check email, organize my calendar and check a sports score now and then and for $200 more dollars, I can do the same thing!

I had to go to our nearest Apple Store yesterday (in Albany, about a 1 hr. 45 min. drive one-way) to exchange a laptop battery. The entire transaction was super smooth, which I've always appreciated about Apple service. But I forgot about the new iPhone hysterics. There was -- I kid you not -- a velvet rope holding back a line outside the store for people waiting to get a ticket in order to receive the new iPhone. And there was an employee at the door acting as bouncer. Nobody could freely walk into the store. You had to tell him your business there. He stopped everybody trying to walk in. I didn't understand why, if you needed a ticket to get the phone, it mattered if people freely went in and out. You'd have to stand in line to get a ticket, right?

Just part of the Appleolatry aesthetic, I guess.

OH! There was also a little memorial shrine outside the store where people had left posters, cards, flowers, and actual apples in memory of Steve Jobs. I found that a bit much too.

I find it all a bit creepy. Especially this: why wait in line for hours when you can just wait a few days and get one without all the fuss at the store?
