Hilarious title. ;-) Who's the devil, though? MTV or Rowling?

Rowling, of course. She may say she's a Christian, and use more Christian imagery in a page than LaHaye/Jenkins/Peretti in a lifetime, but that's just a disguise.

Alan, I know you're being tongue in cheek, but I really hate it when people conflate Peretti with LaHaye and Jenkins. Whether you like his writing or not, Peretti deserves more respect than that (assuming you've read his stuff).

^ What De said.

Have you fellows heard the latest news on Dumbledore?

De, I'm not saying he's a bad writer. I'm just saying he's not a literary writer. He writes like a really compelling newspaper reporter. By contrast Rowling, who is frequently villified, writes books that are chock full of fairly standard Christian imagery.

I find it ironic that the most popular Christian writers don't use historically rooted Christian imagery in their novels, while one who is portrayed as a Satanist does.

Since I've never read HP, I'll concede the argument to you.
