I am sure that the arts (writing, acting, music, etc.) all draw an inordinate share of people that underestimate the skill and work necessary to become successful in those fields. However, I think the situation is universal.
Now pardon me while I have to go straighten out a client's books who thought that giving Quickbooks to a guy who is poor at math would make him an excellent bookkeeper.
My proberb: Giving a novice tools designed for experts inevitably leads to things getting screwed up more quickly and more royally. Feel free to use that in your own occupations. :)

That was hilarious. And I've heard very similar things from people at writer's conferences, so it's eerily familiar.
