"Membership in the family of God is neither inconsequential or something to be casually ignored. The church is God's agenda for the world. Jesus said, "I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it." The church is indestructable and will exist for eternity. It will outlive this universe, and so will your role in it."

It's funny because it's true.

That was hilarious. And I've heard very similar things from people at writer's conferences, so it's eerily familiar.
"I have a gun in my car. I'm going to go get it now."
Heh.

I am sure that the arts (writing, acting, music, etc.) all draw an inordinate share of people that underestimate the skill and work necessary to become successful in those fields. However, I think the situation is universal.

Now pardon me while I have to go straighten out a client's books who thought that giving Quickbooks to a guy who is poor at math would make him an excellent bookkeeper.

My proberb: Giving a novice tools designed for experts inevitably leads to things getting screwed up more quickly and more royally. Feel free to use that in your own occupations. :)
