I was fortunate enough to get a cool gift last weekend: a video iPod! I'm daily discovering all the cool things I can do with it (besides playing music), and I'm always hungry for more!
Do any of you experienced iPod users out there have any tips on cool things to do with a 'Pod?
I've been looking for a chess program for it, but so far no luck.

I shudder at the thought of dropping my iPod.
They are cool, though, aren't they?
They are infinitely cool. One of these days I'll be a Mac lapper boy too. Until then, I'm happy with my Dell. ;-)
Yeah well...how about having your iPod stolen...at church>! Yup - happened to me on Palm Sunday no less. (someone using an alternate meaning of Palm?)
I got another one though. I love it as much as its much lamented twin.
Get yourself a free trial of podfitness and load up on workouts! Quick, before the company goes kaput. Apple is suing them...
You can play all sorts of games on it from the iTunes store. Chess may be coming soon I hope!
Stupid podfitness question: I got the free trial, did what it told me to do but I can't find the workout in my itunes. Is there something else I need to do to download it or did they hide it somewhere?
you should get a best skin ever for it from bestskinsever.com
i feel like a spammer, but these things are really cool.
I've dropped my iPod a time or two with no problems (I'm a tad clumsy), but it's a little bit of an older model. If you enjoy the video iPod half as much as I do my old b&w job then I'll enjoy mine twice as much. ;-)
I don't have any cool stuff you should try, but you should definitely check out Podiobooks.com. I'm a big podfiction lover.
I subscribe to Mars Hill and Village Church podcasts and have the ReFocus conference on my ipod right now. No time for PodioBooks! ;-)
ummm....yeah.
have a little fun with your ipod.
Head covering? Here (pro and con)
Voddie Baucham on schooling (or anything)? Here.
lots of good stuff...
Thanks for the tips, guys.
That Best Skin looks tempting, and it's a good price too. Stroke, I take it that you use it and you like it? Right now, I'm Skinless. I just use the slipcase for toting it around in my pocket.
Back in the day when I got a Palm Pilot (circa 2000), I bought a skin for it (not from Best Skin) and I never liked it. I still use my archaic Palm, and I still like it, but sans the skin.
I also use Best Skin, and - aside from the installation - it is incredible. Perfect, in fact for preventing (dare I say, perfectly?) scratches and stuff.
yeah, applying can be semi stressfull: psychologically because water is involved and physically because you need to get all the corners and buttons lined up, etc. but then, it's basically like carrying the "naked" ipod around, which is nice. keeps it from being bulky AND protects it.
i like it so much, i bought a custom sheet to use on my cell phone screen!
Here's something NOT to do with it: drop it. :-)
I bought Beck the one pictured here for Christmas. She dropped it a couple of months later. It still works the same, but the upper left corner now looks like someone took a black permanent marker to it. Weird.
They are cool, though, aren't they?
Since switching to Mac last fall, we've become quite the Apple snobs.
